Why Is Mental Wellbeing Important?
Health, according to the WHO, “is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.”
While most people often confuse ‘good health’ for just a perfect state of their physical well-being, the mentioned line here is used to help you understand the significance of your mental health, your mental wellbeing too as an integral and essential component of your health.
Mental wellness/mental wellbeing is a positive state of our mental health. And this positivity is more than just the absence of a mental illness. This positivity is about training your mind in a way to help you realize your true potential.
Being mentally well means that your mind is in order and functioning in your best interest. You are able to think, feel and act in ways that create a positive impact on your physical and social well-being.
Mentally well people are positive, self-assured and happy. They are in control of their thoughts, emotions and behaviour. This enables them to handle challenges, build strong relationships and enjoy life.
Achieving mental wellbeing enables you to:
Realize your own abilities
Cope with stress and challenges of life
Engage in productive work
Contribute to the community
Your mental wellbeing is crucial to help you make the most of your life’s journey. Mental wellbeing isn’t a
‘get-done-with-for-once-and-all’ kind of job, it’s rather about sustaining the same, which ultimately requires time and effort.
"There is no health without mental health." The more you invest in your mental health, the stronger you will become.
